Rocket.Chat 4.5.0 brings more improvements to Team Collaboration, Omnichannel, Marketplace, and Apps Engine. Let's see what's new with the latest version. 🚀

Please visit the official release notes for the whole list of improvements and bug fixes.

Omnichannel

Introducing VoIP

We are happy to introduce the MVP version of VoIP (Voice-over-Internet Protocol), which can often be referred to as "cloud telephony".

VoIP phone services are an essential business tool that adds value to every customer interaction. Compared to traditional phones, it's more flexible, reliable, and cost-effective. And it's for this reason that it's gaining traction among organizations, particularly those using it to improve customer service and engagement. Agents can assist customers from any device using VoIP as long as the service team is connected to the internet.

By introducing VoIP, we are enhancing our Omnichannel offering, enabling our clients to meet their end-users wherever they are and provide excellent service at every touchpoint.

VoIP is currently available for community and existing paid users to try and provide us with feedback for future product development.

📄 Use product documentation to learn more about VoIP capabilities, architecture, and prerequisites.

Other improvements

Reply to Instagram story enabled in Instagram Direct App

Instagram Stories’ short lifespan and interactive elements make them ideal for engaging followers and customers in a short amount of time.

The ability for customers and followers to reply to your Instagram stories and engage with agents is now available in Instagram Direct App. Giving agents more visibility into the content that motivates user interaction provides a better and more personalized user experience.

The "Back" button available in Current Chats

The "Back" button available for chats opened from Omnichannel Contact Center is now available for chats opened from the Current list, helping managers quickly access all chats in progress and return to the previous list.

Team Collaboration

Improvements

New End-to-End Encryption password generator: E2EE keys are now readable words, making it easier to remember them.

Auto Add user to room on "Click to Join!" video conference: When clicking the button to join a video conference, the user will automatically be added to a room if not a member.

Integrations - Added a new "All" tab: You can now see all integrations by clicking on the All tab under the Integrations section on the Admin panel.

Descriptive tooltip for Encrypted Key on Room Header: New description added to rooms header to make easier to understand icons.

System messages feedback for teams and OTR: Changes such as adding or removing members are now logged in the room, visible to all members.

Marketplace

Two new filter options added to the Marketplace list

Paid/Free Filter: enabling filtering and finding Free or Paid apps easier.

Sort Filter: allowing sorting Marketplace list considering different rules:

  • Alphabetical order (A-Z or Z-A)
  • Most Recent or Least Recent Updated

Apps Engine

Introducing the OAuth2 Client on Apps Engine

This new feature is helping to integrate different systems that use OAuth2 as an authenticator with your Rocket.Chat Apps.

You don’t have to manage all the OAuth implementation anymore. Using these new methods, your integration will be easily implemented, working with any type of system that uses the system protocol.
